Lane Thomas, Josh Naylor homer in Guardians win
Cleveland improves to 8-3 with 4-2 victory over Kansas City
Gavin Williams gets the win; Royals' Brad Keller takes the loss
Lane Thomas and Josh Naylor hit home runs to back a strong start by Gavin Williams as the Cleveland Guardians beat the Kansas City Royals 4-2 on Saturday night.
Williams allowed one run on four hits and three walks in 5 1/3 innings. He struck out seven.
Thomas gave the Guardians a 2-0 lead with a solo homer in the first inning. Naylor made it 4-0 with a two-run shot in the third.
The Royals got on the board with a run in the fourth, but Williams stranded two runners with a strikeout to end the inning.
The Guardians' bullpen allowed one run in 3 2/3 innings. Nick Sandlin got the final three outs for his first save.
Keller allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks in 4 1/3 innings. He struck out three.
The Guardians have won four of their last five games to improve to 8-3. The Royals have lost four of their last five to fall to 5-6.
