Former Trade Adviser To Trump Found Guilty

Peter Navarro Convicted of Criminal Contempt of Congress

Former Trade Adviser to Trump Found Guilty

Washington - A jury on Thursday convicted former Trump White House trade adviser Peter Navarro of two counts of criminal contempt of Congress.

Navarro was indicted in March for refusing to cooperate with the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. He had been subpoenaed to produce documents and testimony but declined, citing executive privilege.

The jury found Navarro guilty after a three-week trial. He faces a maximum sentence of one year in prison on each count.

The verdict is a significant victory for the House Select Committee, which has been investigating the Jan. 6 attack for more than a year. It is also a blow to former President Trump, who has repeatedly tried to obstruct the committee's investigation.
