WNBA Draft 2022: A Recap

The 2022 WNBA Draft took place on April 11th, 2022, in New York City.

The Atlanta Dream selected Rhyne Howard out of Kentucky with the first overall pick. Howard is a 6'2" forward who averaged 20.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game in her senior season at Kentucky. She was named the SEC Player of the Year and was a First Team All-American.

The Indiana Fever selected NaLyssa Smith out of Baylor with the second overall pick. Smith is a 6'4" forward who averaged 21.9 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game in her senior season at Baylor. She was named the Big 12 Player of the Year and was a First Team All-American.

The Washington Mystics selected Shakira Austin out of Mississippi with the third overall pick. Austin is a 6'5" center who averaged 18.9 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game in her senior season at Mississippi. She was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year and was a Second Team All-American.
